Shannon Ranella, PA-C, will join Corewell Health Medical Group East in the newly created role of vice president for advanced practice providers on Monday, Nov. 18. In this role Shannon will report to Josh Halverson, senior vice president and chief operating officer of Corewell Health Medical Group East.
As part of medical group leadership, Shannon will be responsible for developing and overseeing strategies for APP services across Corewell Health East. Beginning early 2025, all Corewell Health East APPs, including physician assistants, nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives and Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital certified nurse anesthetists, will become part of the medical group.
The vice president role and new APP structure under the medical group was created in response to feedback as well as the opportunity to follow best practice models from across the country. APPs will have APP leaders and will practice by clinical service in a regional model, which will enhance the overall APP experience and help improve the care we provide.
“We’re excited to welcome Shannon to this new role. Her strong leadership experience managing APPs and her passion for enhancing patient care will be valuable assets as we move toward a more regional structure,” Josh said.
“I’m thrilled to bring my clinical and leadership skills and experiences to Corewell Health,” Shannon said. “I look forward to further fostering collaborative environments, promoting the full scope of advanced practice provider practice, and ensuring optimal patient care outcomes.”
Shannon comes to us from the Michigan Medicine where she currently serves as the APP manager for surgical specialties. Prior to that she was a lead physician assistant in thoracic surgery.
Shannon received her Bachelor of Science from Michigan Technological University and her Master of Science, physician assistant studies, from the University of Detroit Mercy. She also earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and was recently accepted into Harvard University's Master of Science in clinical service operations program.
Please join us in welcoming Shannon to Corewell Health.
