Integrated care for pregnant women with Opioid Use Disorder/Substance Use Disorder

On Aug. 11, 2022, the Michigan Health Endowment Fund Board of Directors approved a grant of $500,000 to the Corewell Health Foundation Southeast Michigan and Michigan Medicine to support a program entitled Integrated Care for Pregnant Women with OUD/SUD. The money will be divided evenly between institutions and will be used to create a unique joint private/academic care pathway for pregnant women with OUD/SUD.

Given the continuing opioid epidemic and the unique vulnerability of these patients, the goal of this program is to provide a pathway of excellence that can be ultimately shared with other Michigan physicians. The two-year program officially began on Jan. 1, 2023, with initial patient enrollment beginning in the second quarter of the year. Patients will initially be enrolled at the University of Michigan Hospital and at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital with expansion system-wide in the future.
