Outpatient Imaging Orders – New Process

Starting Monday, April 15, there is a new shift in our scheduling process where an order for any outpatient imaging procedure will be required by Corewell Health East prior to the time of patient scheduling.

Every day, we cancel hundreds of imaging studies at the last minute. This is often due to a lack of prior authorization when orders are not available at time of scheduling. This leads to patient dissatisfaction, longer wait times and backlogs for imaging studies.

Requiring an order before scheduling will ensure we are serving the right patient with the right test in the correct time frame. This change will improve the safety and accuracy of imaging scheduling, leading to better patient experiences and streamlined access.
