Beaumont Health requires full vaccination by Oct. 18

The Food & Drug Administration granted full approval to Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine for individuals 16 years of age and older. As a result of the FDA’s approval, Beaumont Health will require all team members, regardless of location, to receive the complete dosing regimen by Monday, Oct. 18.

18. All team members include, but are not limited to, employees, physicians, residents/fellows, volunteers, students, vendors, contracted personnel and professional staff.

You might recall we previously announced Beaumont would mandate the vaccine once the FDA gave full approval for the vaccine. While the Pfizer vaccine has full approval, employees can still get the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines, which currently have Emergency Use Authorization approval from the FDA.

“We know getting the COVID-19 vaccine is an important decision for people to make,” said John Fox, Beaumont Health president and chief executive officer. “We don’t want to lose one Beaumont team member. However, the positivity rate in the communities we serve up has more than doubled in the past few months and the number of COVID-19 cases at Beaumont has increased. We need to follow the science and provide a safe environment for our patients, their families and each other.”

Schedule your appointment
If you have not yet been vaccinated and are ready now, schedule your appointment online. For those who are interested in the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, more information will be coming out soon about the next clinic.

Exemptions
Beaumont might grant an exemption to the COVID-19 vaccination requirement for certain medical contraindications or religious beliefs. Requests for medical or religious exemptions should be submitted to Employee Health & Safety as soon as possible, but no later than Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 6. The exemption forms and process for submitting requests is available here.
