Airway management STAT code delayed
The name change from Anesthesia STAT to Airway Management STAT is delayed until further notice so additional safety issues can be evaluated and addressed by the team. We want to ensure patient safety is the top priority before we proceed.
All team members should use the stat lines for codes. Call your site’s emergency phone number to contact the operator. This must be the first and primary tool for calling for a STAT emergency response.
- 555 for Grosse Pointe, Royal Oak and Troy
- 888 for Dearborn, Taylor, Trenton and Wayne
- 521-8333 for Farmington Hills
Note: Do not dial zero or your call will go into a queue that is not answered or processed as quickly for STAT calls.
Attend monthly Mobile Heartbeat webinars beginning June 9
All team members are invited to attend monthly Mobile Heartbeat education webinars starting this month. The first webinar, “Back to Basics,” will be on Wednesday, June 9, from noon to 12:30 p.m. via Microsoft Teams. Registration is not required. View the flyer for full details. Be sure to mark your calendars, as an Outlook invite will not be sent. The next monthly Mobile Heartbeat is scheduled for Wednesday, July 14, and will cover Nurse Call and CTMU functionality.
USP 800 Updates – Handling Hazardous Drugs in the Workplace
USP 800 outlines the practice and quality standards for handling hazardous drugs (HD) to promote worker safety, patient safety, and environmental protection. USP 800 describes responsibilities of those handling the hazardous drugs throughout its life cycle, from receipt through disposal. USP impacts all areas of the health-system, including our outpatient facilities and clinics, in addition to the acute care space.
Starting June 15, 2021, Beaumont Health is putting into place new protections with regards to HDs and their handling to minimize potential exposures. Hazardous drugs have been classified as below, based on exposure risks and PPE requirements:
Level 1 - Known/probable carcinogen
Level 2 – Meets 1 or more NIOSH criteria
Level 3 – Reproductive risk
Any hazardous drugs ordered will now be visible on the patient’s Storyboard (example top left). Alerts for BH Level and required PPE for drug handling will be available on the eMAR. Read the
