May 14 - COVID-19 Daily Update

Mask guidelines, More employee J&J vaccine clinics open this week, Hour Detroit Top Docs Voting, Working together to creating a healthy and safe workplace, New eGreetings from the community, oneChart Imaging link will be unavailable starting May 16

Mask guidelines

Yesterday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced individuals who are fully vaccinated for COVID-19 do not have to wear a mask in many situations. However, the new guidelines still require fully vaccinated individuals to wear a mask in a health care setting. Thus, all Beaumont Health employees, patients and family members must still wear a mask when on our campuses.

Beaumont follows guidelines set by the CDC and state of Michigan. Even though the state of Michigan lifted the mask requirement for fully vaccinated individuals today, we continue to follow the MDHHS epidemic orders and MIOSHA rules that are currently in effect.

While the CDC announcement shows the effectiveness in vaccinations and a light at the end of the pandemic tunnel, we still must remain vigilant. The health and safety of our patients, their families and our team members depend on it.

Hour Detroit Top Docs Voting

Online balloting for Hour Detroit magazine’s 2021 Top Doctors survey has begun at hourtopdocs.com/login. The voting period will continue through midnight on June 15.

Once again, Hour Detroit is looking for ways to recognize those in the medical community who deserve recognition for their outstanding and heroic work battling COVID-19. When you visit the website, you will have an opportunity to recognize other individuals along with your fellow physicians, including nurses, technicians, administrative staff, environmental workers or anyone else you feel is deserving of special recognition.

To vote, please visit the secure site, where the structure permits one-time voting by state-licensed M.D.s and D.O.s in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw and Livingston counties. Doctors may sign up as new users using their state I.D. number to register.

As always, doctors are encouraged to vote for respected, qualified, and talented medical professionals — doctors to whom they would refer a loved one. The resulting list will be published in the October 2021 issue of Hour Detroit.

Working together to creating a healthy and safe workplace

Earlier this week, Michigan reached the first threshold in the state’s “MI Vacc to Normal” initiative. According to this plan, when 55% of Michiganders receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, plus two weeks, in-person work will be allowed for all sectors of business. Therefore, as of May 24, the restrictions regarding work at home are no longer in effect.

The work from home restrictions being lifted does not mean everyone will return to work immediately. Beaumont Health is taking some time to study the next steps regarding the status of employees currently working remotely.
