The legacy Beaumont Continuing Medical Education department was recently awarded Joint Accreditation with Commendation — the highest designation possible for CME providers — by the Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education organization.

The department achieved this recognition by demonstrating 100% compliance in all required accreditation criteria and seven additional criteria, areas including enhances skills, demonstrates educational leadership and achieves outcomes.

“The Joint Accreditors commend your organization for meeting these Joint Accreditation requirements, and for demonstrating that yours is a learning organization and a change agent for the interprofessional healthcare teams you serve,” the organization leaders wrote in the department’s congratulatory letter.

“You have demonstrated an engagement with your environment in support of interprofessional learning and team change that is a part of a system for quality improvement,” they added.

The governing bodies of the joint accreditation organization include Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education and the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Accreditation Program.

The organizations jointly accredit institutions that promote collaboration, teamwork, and interprofessional continuing education for health professionals, according to the  organization’s website.

There are currently 174 organizations with joint accreditation and only 30 organizations (17%) achieving Joint Accreditation with Commendation. The CHE department’s status extends through July 2030.
