Reminder – Personal computer security access changes are in effect

Earlier this year, as part of our systemwide technology integration, Digital Services standardized remote security access across Corewell Health to provide a balance of usability and data protection for those using non-corporate owned devices, which includes personal Windows/MAC computers and mobile devices, such as iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. We understand some changes had unexpected impacts on the provider population and are working to restore some functions while maintaining enhanced security.   

How may this access change impact you? 

Ping ID for Multifactor Authentication – Multifactor authentication (MFA) provides an additional layer of identity verification, such as a pin code or push notification, when accessing Corewell Health applications from an external network, which will soon include the guest network at Corewell Health locations. In Q1, we began the transition from Duo to the PingID MFA platform. PingID is active for most of our applications, but Duo is still used for Epic electronic prescribing of controlled substances (EPCS) and mobile access to Epic Haiku.  

  • Please enroll in PingID if you have not already done so. Copy that link and paste it into your Corewell desktop web browser if using a Corewell Health device. 

Microsoft 365 – As part of the migration from Beaumont Health’s M365 environment to the new Corewell Health environment, now, when accessing M365 applications, such as Outlook, Word, or Excel, from a personal computer: 

  1. Use PingID to validate your identity. 
  2. Access the web version of M365 tools through office.com or a personal web app instead of the installed desktop version. 
    • Log in with your @corewellhealth.org email address. 
    • Note, email received in your @beaumont.org account will automatically forward to your @corewellhealth account. 
    • Be aware that printing and downloading functions are unavailable in M365 apps when using a personal device. Contact the Service Desk if your workflows require printing and/or downloading from M365 apps on a personal device. 

To access email on your smartphone: 

  1. Download the Microsoft Outlook app.  
  2. Log into the Outlook app with your @corewellhealth.org email address. 
  3. Use PingID to validate your identity. 
  4. Follow these steps if you need to resync your iPhone contacts. Copy that link and paste it into your Corewell desktop web browser if using a Corewell Health device. 

BHApps.Beaumont.org – To remotely access Corewell applications, continue to use bhapps.beaumont.org. Access requires PingID MFA.
