On Tuesday, June 4, a new feature will be added to myBeaumontChart called OpenNotes. This allows patients the opportunity to view their providers’ notes by default from appointments and hospital admissions.

According to a recent OpenNotes study, approximately 4 out of 5 patients, when actively offered the opportunity, read their notes. Patients who read notes report that they:

• have a better understanding of their health and medical conditions
• feel more in control of their healthcare and recall plans more accurately
• are better prepared for visits, have more focused conversations and stronger relationships with their doctors

It has been proven that patients who are engaged in their care through transparency and trust have better outcomes.
